Project Title: A Decade Review of Child-Related Sustainable Development Goals in the Dominican Republic (2015–2025): Progress, Challenges, and Data Gaps
Client: UNICEF Dominican Republic Country Office (UNICEF-DR)
Student Names: Di Hai, Mariama J. Krubally, Warren Leung, JinNing (Bryan) Cheung, Abbie Siu
Faculty Lead: André Xavier
Year: 2026
About the Project: As progress across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remains intrinsically linked to child protection, development, and survival, this report focuses specifically on child-related SDG indicators, the Dominican national targets attached to them, and the gaps between global SDG commitments and the Dominican Republic’s own SDG-aligned national targets and policy commitments for children. This report prioritizes indicators directly linked to children by mapping where child-related SDG indicators are on track, off track, or missing from national monitoring systems. Evidence-based recommendations are organized around strengthening data governance and closing indicator-level gaps, aligning national monitoring systems with child-rights-based approaches. It is intended to support UNICEF-DR and government partners in identifying where children are being left behind and where targeted policy action and investment can have the greatest impact before 2030.
