Research: Amber is a PhD Candidate in Integrated Studies in Land & Food Systems. For her dissertation, Amber is carrying out a participatory research project that measures and explores the climate resilience of smallholder rice systems in the Philippines, and identifies targeted inventions for enhancing climate resilience given existing socioecological conditions and the lived experience of farmers. More broadly, Amber is committed to creating sustainable, equitable, and resilient food systems through public scholarship and knowledge mobilization. Her research often draws from a socioecological systems framework and political ecology to generate a comprehensive perspective on human–environment relations. She also uses participatory methods to facilitate knowledge exchange and mobilization during the research process. Her past research spans across the globe, covering Costa Rica, Haiti, Brazil, Canada, and the Philippines; as well as covers a range of topics including, food security, food sovereignty, agroecology, climate resilience, food assistance, and landscape management.
