Prof. Tsering Shakya on Entangled Territories: Tibet Through Images

Entangled Territories: Tibet Through Images is a UBC Museum of Anthropology exhibit that reimagines Tibet by showing how it has been represented historically by outsiders, and how Tibetans themselves now present and talk about Tibet.

Prof. Tsering Shakya (SPPGA/Asian Studies), co-director of the Himalaya Program, has been a collaborator on this exhibit and the associated publication. In this video, Prof. Shakya talks with MOA Curator Dr. Fuyubi Nakamura about the exhibit.

Entangled Territories: Tibet Through Images runs from November 20, 2025 – March 29, 2026, highlighting the importance of Tibet’s rich cultural heritage as well as its current political context. (Don’t miss the special talk with Tibetologist Dr. Isabelle Henrion-Dourcy on January 22 at 5:30pm, free with museum admission!)
