Edi Qereshniku

MPPGA Student, Class of 2023

About

Originally from Albania, Edi immigrated to Canada at a young age, where he learned the importance of adapting to change and embracing challenges. He has always had a keen interest in global affairs and how policy impacts people, businesses, and institutions.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Calgary, Edi started a career in commercial and corporate banking where he covered a range of industries with various financial institutions. Most recently, as Director of Corporate Banking, Edi managed a portfolio of corporate clients in the Energy sector. In this role he identified and coordinated the delivery of financial services including direct lending, syndication, derivatives and investment banking. Over the years he has built relationships with executive teams, worked with partners across industries, and established himself as a strategic advisor.

Today, the international liberal order is being challenged by competing ideas of what the future should look like. This has resulted in strained alliances, the rise of populism, deterioration of democratic values and great-power competition. Edi is interested in pursuing an MPPGA degree because he wants to study how policy can be developed to address the ongoing economic and geopolitical realignment while considering the impact of demographics and rapid technological change on security, development, and governance.
