Jessika’s passion for the Ocean and a fundamental desire to drive positive change has led her to the cross-road of policy and marine conservation. She seeks to bring forth evidence-informed policy and management to ocean governance. Specifically, her interests lie in finding holistic policy solutions to restore and maintain marine ecosystem complexity and resilience in light of current overarching issues of environmental change and human interaction. Jessika completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of British Columbia. Over the last three years studying global fisheries as a research assistant, she has strengthened her aptitude for thinking critically about issues on large spatial and temporal scales. She has now joined UBC’s Public Policy and Global Affairs Master’s program to better understand how to marry socioeconomic, environmental and political considerations in policy. She aims to participate in solving the complex interdisciplinary issues that threaten the Ocean today.
