Lisa Slager graduated from the University of Victoria with an Honours BA in Sociology. Her interest in global affairs and human rights motivated her work in immigration as a legal administrative assistant in Victoria for the last three years. It was here that she gained first-hand experience with the strengths and limitations in the design and implementation of immigrant and refugee policy.
In her free time, Lisa is a Board Member at Mosqoy, a grassroots non-profit working to building capacity with Indigenous weaving communities of the Peruvian Andes. This has provided her with the opportunity to work closely with social enterprises and powerful community-led responses to international development and unsustainable tourism.
Lisa joined the MPPGA program in hopes of gaining the knowledge and skills to contribute to innovative policy that is empowering migrant communities within Canada and around the world.
