About

Rebecca is the Manager, Events and Program Development at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia. She is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of a variety of complex and large-scale events, initiatives and programming for the SPPGA, including coordinating the high-profile Phil Lind Initiative, which invites prominent US scholars, writers, and intellectuals to UBC to share ideas with students, faculty, and the wider community on some of the most urgent issues of our time. She was previously the Project Manager at the UBC’s Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions as a research facilitator, coordinator of initiatives and programs including the Institute for Future Legislators (IFL).

 

Rebecca received a BA in Political Science at UBC (’07) and is currently working on an MEd in Adult Education and Global Change. She was raised in Brazil and Costa Rica, and for the past 20 years has been a settler on the territories of the səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), and šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam). Rebecca’s interests lie in participatory and deliberative democratic innovations, human rights, and social and environmental justice. Her passions include cooking, gardening, swimming, and meeting your dog.
