Yuko Shibata is an Honorary Research Associate at the Centre for Japanese Research, Institute of Asian Research, UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs.

Her research focuses on overseas Japanese and immigrant experiences in Canada, i.e., language and culture, shifting identities, Nikkei (Japanese Canadian) women; adult socialization; and life narratives and writings.
