Stéphanie Martel will be defending her PhD thesis in Political Science at the Université de Montréal in June 2017, and is now joining the Institute of Asian Research as a Research Fellow. Her research interests are at at the intersection of Southeast Asian studies, regional governance in the Asia-Pacific, and international security. Stéphanie’s post-doctoral research under the supervision of Paul Evans is supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, and focuses on multilateral diplomacy in the Association of Southeast Asian Studies (ASEAN). The project studies the role of daily practices associated with the so-called “ASEAN Way” on regional identity construction among Southeast Asian diplomats. Stéphanie benefits from a significant fieldwork experience in Southeast Asia and has a M.Sc. in Political Science from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (France).
