SPPGA Welcomes Robyn Leuty as Assistant Director

The UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs is thrilled to welcome Robyn Leuty as our new Assistant Director.

Robyn brings over a decade of experience working in secondary and post-secondary educational environments as an educator and administrator. For the last 6.5 years, she has contributed to the vision and direction for careers at UBC Vancouver, leading the strategic operations and expansion of Workplace Learning programs, including Work Learn and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Undergraduate Research Awards.

“We are thrilled to welcome Robyn as SPPGA Assistant Director to support and elevate our school’s activities and advance our vision as a leading school of public policy and global affairs,” said Director Allison Macfarlane. “This is a critical moment for our school’s growth and Robyn’s leadership will help us advance current and emerging priorities, in line with our new SPPGA strategic plan.”

Robyn’s educational pursuits have led her through three undergraduate and graduate degrees at UBC, as well as certifications in coaching, design thinking, and supplemental instruction. Robyn has been at UBC since 2009, after leaving her work with Vancouver School Board as a high school teacher. She is passionate about contributing to the design and delivery of curricula and programs that foster exploration of personal, professional, and academic identities.

SPPGA also wishes to acknowledge the tremendous leadership and contributions by acting Assistant Director Tamara Baldwin over the past two years. Director Macfarlane stated: “Tamara’s commitment and dedication to strategic planning, her support of faculty, staff, and students, her initiative on the Practitioner Fellows program all the while maintaining her role as Director of ORICE throughout a global pandemic is incredibly impressive and deeply appreciated.”
