Simran Pachar
About
Simran Pachar (she/her) is a second-generation graduate from Rajasthan, India. Born into a socio-economically marginalized community that has traditionally practiced farming, Simran completed an honours undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi in political science. She has worked with several federal-level ministries in India including the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on policy formulation. Before starting the MPPGA program, Simran worked as a policy analyst with a Member of Parliament in India, advising him on issues of national interest. Simran has also worked as a consultant for a non-profit organization in New Delhi that works on primary education in government schools.
Her policy interests revolve around issues of development and social change, stemming from her background. Having worked in roles of policy formulation and research, Simran realised that even an intelligently designed policy can fail on-ground if it is not implemented thoughtfully. Thus, with an MPPGA degree, Simran wants to gain effective execution skills and work in the policy implementation arena in South Asia.
In her spare time, Simran enjoys cooking and embroidery. As an international student in Canada, she also loves going on walks and exploring new places around the city.
