Xi Pu

MPPGA Student, Class of 2024

About

Xi attended the University of Miami for three years, majoring in economics and minoring in public relations. She has worked in a variety of fields, including marketing, public relations and human resources. She is currently working as an intern for the LVMH Group in the human resources department in Shanghai. She is mainly responsible for organizing staff training program development and staff performance assessments.

Her passion for policymaking was sparked while conducting research on food hunger programs and issues in the United States. Despite the federal government’s nutrition programs, more than 13 million children in the US live with food insecurity. The situation prompted her to reflect deeply on solutions for hunger and inequity. Following her volunteer experience in developing areas of Yunnan Province, China, she realized the importance of policy making to society. There she saw children suffering from hunger and a lack of resources as a result of insufficient policy implementation. She hopes to further explore how she can contribute to the creation of a hunger-free society and immerse herself in more opportunities to evaluate current policies.

Her professional goal is to work in United Nations or non-profit organizations, to contribute to the world’s sustainable development, particularly in the areas of poverty, food insecurity, and education.
