Listen Now: Beyond Fires and Floods on Media Indigena Podcasts

Beyond Fires and Floods (BFF) was a three-day gathering at UBC of close to 40 international Indigenous journalists, experts and storytellers who came together to discuss how Indigenous peoples are contending with climate change. Conversations, reflections and reporting from this gathering are now forming the basis of a brand new in-depth podcast series from MEDIA INDIGENA, hosted by Rick Harp.

Across the episodes, listeners are invited into a broader, more layered understanding of climate change that is grounded in land, language, and intergenerational knowledge. Conversations trace the environmental transformations being witnessed in real time, examining the overlapping impacts of colonialism, capitalism, and resource extraction while highlighting examples of resilience and resurgence.

Co-convened by UBC’s Candis Callison (SPPGA/CIS) and MEDIA INDIGENA’s Rick Harp, the Beyond Fires & Floods podcast series offers an opportunity to engage more deeply with the Indigenous voices and perspectives shaping how climate change is understood and communicated today.

New episodes are being released throughout the spring, and the first of the series are available below:
