What kind of role could and should Japan play in peace building in Afghanistan and the Middle East? Based on his two-year experience in Afghanistan, Consul General Seiji Okada of Japan will disccuss the challenges of peace building and examine the role of Japan in the Middle East

Mr. Okada joined the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981 and was stationed in many sites around the world, including Canada, Bahrain, Korea, and Kenya.  Before taking up his current post leading the Consulate-General of Japan in VAncouver, he served as Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Japan in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2012.
