The Centre for Southeast Asia Research invites you to a panel discussion highlighting the work of Indigenous water protectors from the Mekong River area and from Salish Waters around us here in Vancouver. This talk brings together water protectors, artists and scholars for a deep reflection on the shortcomings of current global conservation policy as well as the urgent mechanisms needed for meaningful change.

This event is part of a community-based art exhibition at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum curated by Rapichan Phurisamban (PhD Candidate, Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability). The artwork comes from communities along the Mekong River whose survival is being threatened by changes in the river’s ecology.

We invite you to join us for this thought-provoking talk and to visit the exhibit, on display through the summer.
