About the Talk
Australia, Pine Gap and Gaza: national accountability for complicity in genocide through provision of intelligence to the Five Eyes network.
In the aftermath of the International Court of Justice 26 January 2024 provisional judgement in Israel vs South Africa, any country that was part of the Five Eyes transnational intelligence community was faced with a challenge: could the government assure the public that US intelligence facilities hosted on its soil were not rendering the country complicit in plausible acts of genocide?
This presentation examines that question in the case of Australia, focusing on the signals intelligence activities carried out at the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap in Central Australia.
