About the Project: The territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) encompasses the interconnected watersheds of the Squamish River, Mamquam River, Howe Sound, English Bay, False Creek, and Burrard Inlet. The land and water are interconnected and inseparable aspects of territory, understood and experienced as a unified whole. The Squamish Nation seeks to develop water policies that guide its efforts in reasserting jurisdiction and decision-making authority over waters within its territory. This project will conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing legislation and policies governing marine waters to inform and strengthen the future development of such policies.
