Position Title: Academic Assistant (Part-Time, 10 hours/week)
Duration: March – April 2025
Reports to: Joël Dalibard, UBC Visiting Practitioner Fellow at the School for Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA).
Position Overview:
The selected Academic Assistant will provide video editing and animation support for an interdisciplinary research project. This role will support the creation of a series of short explanatory videos about the work done by diplomats. The finalized content is intended for publication on social media.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience with video editing and animation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create animated video content based on guidance from supervisor. Depending on the video, tools used could include VideoScribe or online AI animation generators. Candidates may suggest alternative tools.
- Assist with selecting images and sound effects to use in videos.
- Edit and insert audio content (music and narration).
- Prepare completed files for online publication.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Educational background: Current UBC Student, ideally with focus on media and information technology.
- Video Editing Experience: Direct and demonstrated experience in video editing and animation.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Work Hours and Compensation:
- Part-time, 10 hours per week.
- Compensation $27-32/hour
