Coronavirus (COVID-19) – A Public Health Statement from SPPGA

The health and well-being of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA) students, faculty, staff, event audiences, and visitors is of utmost importance to us.

At this time, the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to be “low for Canada.”

The majority of SPPGA programming for the remainder of March, 2020, including the Phil Lind Initiative, has been postponed or cancelled.

We are requesting that students, faculty, staff, visitors, and audience members stay home if they feel ill and not return until they are symptom-free.

We encourage everyone to take recommended precautions outlined by health officials including washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, and frequently disinfecting shared high-touch surfaces and objects.

We are encouraging everyone to forgo usual greetings with guests at our event (for example, instead of handshaking, put your hand on your heart when you greet someone).
