MAAPPS Alumnus Justin Kwan Co-hosts Newly Launched APFC Podcast



The Youth Element PodcastJustin Kwan, a MAAPPS graduate and Post-Graduate Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, is co-host of The Youth Element, a new podcast series about East Asia’s millennials. The Youth Element is an eight-part series that explores questions about culture, politics, economics, and national defense through the narrated stories of youth. Kwan and co-host Linda Qian travel across five cities: Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Seoul, to listen to the voices of millennials and learn more about contemporary East Asia through their views and the stories of their own lives.

The first episode, “Young Beginnings: Nostalgia, Youth, and School” explores school life: cram schools, familial expectations, and the commodification of academic competition.
