The School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for Sessional Lecturers for the Winter 2025-2026 academic term. The following courses are open for application in Term 1 and/or Term 2 (September 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026).
PPGA 520: Economics of Poverty (3.0 credits) – Micro-scale processes of development, including the challenges posed by persistent poverty, and ground-level development solutions. Measurement and empirical evaluation of development interventions and outcomes.

PPGA 521: Development and Institutions (3.0 credits) – Introduction to macro-level long-term development processes by which societies improve their standards of living. Development theories, historical drivers; present debates; when and how public policies can best enable economic development.

Winter Term 2 | Thursdays 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
PPGA 591C: Special Topics in Public Policy – Lind Initiative (3.0 credits) – Offerings respond to current policy debates, topics of emerging interest, availability of visiting scholars, and interest in non-traditional courses incorporating practitioner expertise, interest in particular disciplinary perspectives missing from core courses and electives, and interest in specific regions or countries.

Winter Term 2 | Thursdays 3:30pm – 5:30pm.
Course delivery may be flexible depending upon the candidate. Course scheduling will be finalized upon confirmation of courses taught, and will be scheduled between 9am and 8pm Mon-Fri.

All positions are subject to availability of funds and will be governed by UBC’s “Agreement on Conditions of Appointment for Sessional Lecturers.” The minimum salary (effective 2024W) will be $9,559.11 per 3-credit course.
