With heavy hearts, we come together as a school and wider community to mourn the deaths of the 215 children found in a mass grave at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School last week. Our thoughts are with the families, their communities, and all individuals impacted through the residential school system.
This painful discovery echoes what has been shared through truth and reconciliation processes, and is time for us to not only care for one another but to recommit to the 94 calls to action made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that remain largely unrealized.
As a community at SPPGA we are grieving and we will continue to gather to examine and act to address our historical and present complicity in systems that perpetuate violence, racism, and injustice.
