On Friday, July 22nd, we were joined by the Honourable Stéphane Dion, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Cabinet Committee in Environment, Climate Change and Energy for a town hall on Canada’s role in climate friendly economic development and the impacts of climate change on Canada and Asia, ahead of the Minister’s visit to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Canada Post-Ministerial Conference. The audience, primarily composed of UBC students, staff and faculty, engaged in a Q&A session with the Minister, as well as with Pam Goldsmith-Jones, the Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and former Mayor of West Vancouver.
Professor Kathryn Harrison, Acting Dean of Arts, provided introductory remarks and the discussion was moderated by Yves Tiberghien, Director of the Institute of Asian Research and Co-Director of the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program. The event was co-hosted by the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program, the Institute of Asian Research, and the Liu Institute for Global Issues at UBC Vancouver.
