The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is committed to fostering the next generation of researchers and analysts. To that end, it offers three one-year fellowships for recent Master’s and Doctoral graduates whose academic background and professional goals include policy-relevant issues in the contemporary Asia Pacific.
The Foundation welcomes applications from graduates in the social sciences, humanities, business, education, statistics, natural sciences, and other academic and professional programs. It also encourages proposals related to one of the following themes:
• Climate Change, Energy, Food Security
• Natural Resources, Clean Technology
• Immigration Policy
• Trade and investment
• Education
• Sub-national relations with Asia (see, for example, the “Asia Factor” www.theasiafactor.ca)
• Canada-China Relations
Post-Graduate Research Fellows are encouraged to complete their fellowship work at our Vancouver office, and generally divide their time between a self-directed research project on Canada-Asia relations (or other Asia-related topic with clear Canadian policy implications) and the Foundation’s other activities.
PhD graduates receive $42,000 and M.A. graduates receive $40,000 for a one-year term. Moreover, fellows will be awarded an additional grant to pay for travel incurred in the pursuit of their research. Fellowships normally begin during the summer months, although the Foundation will consider later start dates on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and must have completed a Master’s or Doctoral program no more than 18 months prior to the application deadline.
All applications must be received by April 7th, 2017. All applications must reference “PGRF” in the email subject line. For further information on how to apply, please visit:
