Amir Alavi

MPPGA Student, Class of 2024

About

Amir graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business in 2018. After graduation, he worked in manufacturing, insurance, and financial industries before moving into politics. In 2021, he ran as a Liberal candidate in the Northern BC (PGPRNR) riding. Running in a conservative riding in BC’s oil and gas hub became a turning point for Amir to learn more about energy sustainability and housing affordability, hoping to bring concrete solutions through intensive investment toward alternative industries toward a greener economy.

Amir currently is working on a startup in fintech, and is running for City Council in West Vancouver where he initially immigrated when he was in Grade 10. He is looking forward to bringing a material difference to his community on issues regarding aging, housing affordability, and traffic.
