Aydan MacDougall
About
Aydan (He/Him/His) was born in Edmonton, Alberta, before moving to Vancouver in 2017 to pursue his BA in Sociology from UBC. Aydan’s interests have always centered around addressing gender and sexuality inequities for access to mental health services. Moreover, he is interested in investigating how this gap in mental health services affects gender minorities and Queer individuals in the sex work industry.
Aydan has volunteered in Edmonton and Vancouver for non-profit organizations such as Hope Mission to support low-income individuals in combating food insecurity. He has also volunteered at local county clothing lines giving out second-hand clothing to low-income families. This has provided Aydan valuable insights into poverty reductions, affordable housing and combating food insecurity.
Through the MPPGA program, Aydan is looking to obtain enhanced policy analysis skills that are vital in advancing policy for Queer youth. His long-term goal is to work in the Canadian public sector to support marginalized gender and sexual identities on the federal level.
