Isa Matovu

MPPGA Student, Class of 2024

About

Isa Matovu comes to the MPPGA program with vast experience working on governance and development programs in the global south. His expertise spans the not-for-profit sector, youth program designing, political party capacity building, election management (including participating in two international long term election observation missions in Pakistan and Bangladesh), young leaders training and organizational development consulting.

Before joining the MPPGA program, Isa was a project consultant with the Ministry of Health supporting the development and implementation of the Health Laboratory sector strategy, as part of the Covid-19 international response. He has previously worked to support Uganda’s Ministry of Education as Chair of the National Education Conference (an initiative aimed at improving primary education) and team leader for the delegations to the Annual Global Education and Skills Forum in UAE.

Isa’s interest in public policy is to build a solid foundation for advanced engagement with international governance and development work, including policy advocacy for improved education, health, sustainable development and livelihoods especially for the global south.

Isa is also an alumni with of the International Visitors’ Leadership Program (IVLP) of the US State Department, having participated in the promising global young leaders’ program in Washington DC.
