Dr. Jackie F. Steele (PhD, University of Ottawa) is former Associate Professor, University of Tokyo, and Adjunct Professor, SGAPP and the Center for Japanese Research at UBC. With 25 years of trilingual (en-fr-jp) research, publishing, and teaching in law/politics/policy. A global expert on mechanisms of democratic innovation of constitutions, parliaments and diverse citizenship practices, in addition to her focus on Canadian politics and constitutional democracy, Steele brings 25 years of research and lived experience in Japan, pioneering original research on elite MP attitudes to the integration of women, gender and diversity in Japan/Korea/Taiwan. She is co-founder of GDRep (Gender and Diversity in Representation) Research Network in Japan and the WoNdER Research Network on Women and Diversity in East Asian Politics.  She is CEO of enjoi Innovation Inc, and serves as Vice President of the Francophone Chamber of Commerce of Greater Vancouver.
