MPPGA Student, Class of 2024

About

Melissa Lo (she/her) was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in International Relations and minoring in Law and Society. Each summer throughout her undergraduate years, she has worked for Pedalheads; a company started in Vancouver to teach children how to ride bicycles. She currently works full-time as Pedalheads’ B.C. Hiring Coordinator and has enjoyed engaging with youth across the province that are interested in working for the company. Here, Melissa has gained invaluable experience in customer service, leadership and youth engagement.

Throughout her undergraduate studies, Melissa developed a strong passion for environmental issues and social justice, especially in light of the recent climate disasters in her home province. She is especially interested in pursuing the Resources, Energy and Sustainability stream in the MPPGA program.

Melissa hopes to use all that she has learned in her undergraduate and graduate studies to create and recommend policies that will lower Canada’s emissions, as well as mitigate the impact of climate change on vulnerable populations. She hopes to someday pursue a career involving the analysis and development of environmental policy.
