Mitali Madhusmita
About
Mitali completed her bachelor of commerce (Hons) undergrad degree at the University of Delhi in India. She worked at EY India as an international tax analyst, performing overall industrial and economic analyses, which required her to examine international transactions. She had always enjoyed learning about the various global affairs shaping our world, and ultimately decided to leave her position at EY India in pursuit of this passion. Having mostly engaged herself in the world of policy making and global affairs through books and news, Mitali has had a primary yet essential peek into the world of human rights, conflicts, energy, and various world affairs. She represented India in a live debate conducted by the Commonwealth class in collaboration with BBC and was awarded for her “exceptional effort and achievement in intercultural awareness.”
Growing up in a family of civil servants, Mitali has been privileged to go around various places in India and observe closely the ground-level realities of backward communities in India- their culture and diversity on one hand and the deep-seeded systemic oppression on the other. Her personal experiences of witnessing extensive inequity across India and the necessity for research-based regional and community-based policy interventions has inspired her to pursue this career path. She looks forward to having a career at the UN someday, working towards restoring human rights and dignity in various communities across the world. Mitali is also an ardent lover of music, art, books, and anything that enriches her mind.
