About

Pita Limjaroenrat is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, where he also serves as Co-Director of IAR’s Centre for Southeast Asia Research.

Pita led Thailand’s Move Forward Party (MFP) to a historic victory in the 2023 elections, securing the largest share of parliamentary seats. Despite this mandate, his efforts to form a government were thwarted by institutional barriers. In 2024, the Constitutional Court dissolved the MFP and imposed a ten-year ban on Pita from holding political office. Throughout his career, Pita has focused on grassroots issues, welfare improvements, and human rights, while advocating for the demilitarization of politics and the dismantling of economic monopolies.

Currently, he serves as a Visiting Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School. He holds a joint MPA-MBA from Harvard Kennedy School and MIT Sloan, and has been recognized on the TIME 100 Next list. Today, Pita remains a passionate advocate for transparent and equitable governance worldwide.
