About

Sarah (she/her) is passionate about international development, human rights, and social justice issues.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sarah’s interest in global issues was sparked by her parents, who had survived the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Growing up, she had the opportunity to live in Cambodia to connect with her rich cultural roots and expand her interest in transnational justice and Asia-Pacific policy.

After graduating from York University with a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, she began her career in the Ontario Public Service with the Ministry of Transportation’s Provincial Highways Management division. She quickly developed a keen interest in policy development and evidence-based decision making. She continued her career as a Case Management Coordinator with the Ministry of the Attorney General, where she applied her policy interest to victims of crime.

She led a national research project in partnership with the Government of Yukon and Institute of Public Administration of Canada that investigated the impact remote work on organizational efficiency, policy creation, and employee motivation.

Sarah comes to the MPPGA program with extensive and diverse professional experience in the public sector and a strong understanding of academic research. She joined the program to advance her educational and professional knowledge in policy development to pursue her passions and drive change on a local and global scale.
