Simran is from Punjab (a.k.a the land of five rivers), India. She is a graduate from University of Delhi with a major in commerce and finance. She then went on to pursue a post graduate diploma in liberal arts from Ashoka University (also known as the Young India Fellowship). She has over 3 years of experience in research and marketing with education start-ups based in New Delhi. Before getting into the world of policy making, Simran interned with the Ministry of External Affairs, India. It is there that she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in public policy. She also volunteers with EcoSikh, an environment restoration NGO based in Ludhiana (India), on their Clean Air Punjab Campaign.

Her areas of interest include: air quality management, climate justice, environment restoration, and sustainable development. She plans to specialize in the Resources, Environment, and Sustainability stream where she aims to view environmental and climate change policies through a critical and constructive lens
