Steven Lee is co-director of the Centre for Korean Research at IAR. He is Associate Professor in the Department of History where he teaches courses on Twentieth Century Global History, Twentieth Century Korea, and the International Relations of the Great Powers.

His research concentrates on international relations, particularly the history of the Cold War and US-Korea relations. Professor Lee’s wide range of publications include the book projects Outposts of Empire (1996), and The Korean War (2001). He has also co-edited a volume about the economic, political, and cultural shifts in Korea since the late nineteenth century titled Transformations in Twentieth Century Korea (Routledge, 2006).

Professor. Lee is currently working on two book projects: a volume focusing on the political and social history of warfare in modern East Asia, and a survey of twentieth century global history.
