Current Salary: Graduate Teaching Assistant I (Doctoral) or equivalent – $33.10/hour; Graduate Teaching Assistant II (Masters) or equivalent – $31.85/hour

General Duties:
Attending lectures, holding office hours and meeting with students, keeping class records, creating and selecting class materials, presenting new material/lecturing, leading discussions and answering questions, conducting review sessions, holding tutorials and lab sections, duplicating materials, preparing/collecting solutions to questions, grading and providing feedback on assignments and exams, invigilating exams, assigning course grades, ordering and obtaining AV equipment and materials.

PPGA 500 (6) Economics for Policy (Term 1-2, 2 positions, 384 hours each)
Fundamental principles of economics applied to public policy and global affairs.
PPGA 503 (3) Measurement and Data Analysis for Policy (Term 1, 2 positions, 192 hours each)
Fundamental quantitative tools for policy analysis and program evaluation, including measurement, data visualization, and regression analysis. Introduction of skills for the design and implementation of quantitative policy analysis.
PPGA 504 (3) Policy Analysis and Evaluation (Term 2, 1 position @ 192 hours, 1 position @ 96 hours)
Fundamentals of policy analysis and program evaluation for a professional context. Standard tools of policy analysis, risk assessment, and evaluation to design policy interventions and implement monitoring and evaluation systems for effectiveness. Case studies for government, international organizations, and NGOs.
PPGA 505 (3) Domestic and Global Policy Process (Term 1, 1 position, 192 hours)
Theories and frameworks related to policy-making processes at both the domestic and global levels. Agenda setting, policy formulation and stakeholder engagement, decision-making, policy implementation, and policy evaluation.
PPGA 506 (3) Public Management (Term 1, 1 position, 192 hours)
Governmental implementation and delivery of public policy. Variations in international practice, the growing interdependence of governments, firms and non-government organizations. Complexities of multi-level governance including control and accountability of governments.
PPGA 508 (3) Policy in Context (Term 2, 1 position, 192 hours)
Analytical tools for assessing policy in different cultural contexts, inter-cultural communication skills, ethics, and effective community engagement in policy work.
PPGA 509 (1.5) Communicating Policy (Term 1-2, 1 position, 96 hours)
The role of media, especially new media, in effectively communicating policy to stakeholders. Focus on communications formats including written, oral, and multimedia policy communications. Examples include policy briefs, presentations, and intercultural communications.
PPGA 510 (1.5) Professional Practice in Public Policy and Global Affairs (Term 1-2, 1 position, 96 hours)
Analysis of professional practice in policy and global affairs, including potential alignment with personal values, strengths, and education. Development of essential professional skills including teamwork and project management.
PPGA 511 (1.5) Leadership for Policy Professionals (Term 1-2, 1 position, 96 hours)
Practical leadership skills and competencies for policy professionals bridging theory to principles and practices in an interactive studio setting.
PPGA 514 (2) Research Design and Qualitative Methods (Term 2, 1 position, 128 hours)
Research design principles and ethics. Methods for qualitative data collection and analysis to inform policy decision making. Focus on participant-observation, interviewing, focus groups, content and gender-based analysis.
PPGA 591L (1.5) Strategic Design for Systemic Change (Term 2, 1 position, 96 hours)
Introduction to the theory, tools and techniques of strategic design as an approach to systemic change in society using a multi-sectoral approach to policy and strategy in an interactive studio setting.
