Dr EDMUND TERENCE GOMEZ is Professor of Political Economy at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya. Between 2005 and 2008, he served as Research Coordinator at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), in Geneva, Switzerland. He has held Visiting Professorships at Kobe University (Japan), the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and the University of California-San Diego. Other academic appointments include fellowships at the University of Leeds (UK), Murdoch University (Australia), the Australian National University in Canberra, and the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (Denmark). Well-known publications include Malaysia’s Political Economy: Politics, Patronage and Profits (with KS Jomo; Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1999) and Chinese Business in Malaysia: Accumulation, Ascendance, Accommodation (Honolulu: University of Hawaii Press, 1999).
