DATE
Monday March 13, 2017
TIME
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the progress made and the challenges ahead, to call for change, and to celebrate the courage and determination shown by women who have played an extraordinary role in their communities. This event will consider the challenges, shortcomings, and opportunities for effectively implementing the new sustainable development goals through women’s empowerment and leadership in Greater Central Asia, such as:

  • Achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls
  • Ensuring inclusive, accessible, and quality education for all
  • Ensuring all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development and care

We need courageous advocacy and strong political will to achieve gender quality in Greater Central Asia. What are the international community’s responsibilities in actively and effectively contributing to women’s empowerment?

Speaker:

Her Excellency Shinkai Karokhail is the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Canada. She is a former Member of Parliament in Afghanistan and an activist for women’s rights.
