IAR Welcomes a New Visiting Scholar



Nina Wang is based at the Institute of Asian Research as an international visiting student for the next year working with Paul Evans and other professors at the Institute.  She is currently a PhD candidate finishing a thesis at the Shanghai International Studies University, majoring in International Political Communication.

Her dissertation focuses on the role of American transnational corporations and their discursive power in shaping US-China relations and both US and Chinese policies.

In addition, she is also completing a study of the gendered politics in China’s public diplomacy focusing the role of  “First Lady” Peng Liyuan.  The study is based on a content analysis of mainstream global media coverage from 2014 to 2016.
