The School of Public Policy and Global Affairs would like to congratulate Andrea Reimer, Adjunct Professor at SPPGA, on being one of three new members appointed to the BC Climate Solutions Council on July 28, 2023.

The Council’s experts, representing diverse backgrounds in First Nations, environmental organizations, industry, academia, youth, labour, and local government, actively support climate action and sustainable economic growth. They provide vital strategic guidance to the BC government in their pursuit of emission reductions, improving economic prospects and community resilience.

Prof. Andrea Reimer brings extensive experience in environmental initiatives and municipal politics having  been elected to three terms on the Vancouver City Council.

“The impacts of climate change on people, communities and the land are clear: we need courageous climate action more than ever,” says Prof. Reimer. “CleanBC represents a solid foundation for action and it’s an honour to be asked to bring my experience in local government climate action and international climate policy advocacy to bear on the next phases of this work.”

Along with other council members, Reimer will advise the provincial government on actions and policies as they  endeavor to lower carbon emissions 40% by 2030.Read more about her appointment on the Government of BC website.
