Video: UBC WUSC Local Committee

The Liu Institute for Global Issues’ video series, Seeking Refuge, focuses on different aspects of the refugee crisis we are witnessing in today’s world. This video is part 4 of the series and presents perspectives from three UBC students, Sarah, Clement and Kuol – each of whom came to Canada from a different corner of the globe as a refugee student through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). WUSC, through their Student Refugee Program, facilitates the arrival and resettlement of refugee students to UBC together with the university and the Alma Mater Society (AMS).
As students in our video share, a WUSC Local Committee is a campus-based group of students, faculty and staff who share our belief in the power of education to change the world. The WUSC Local Committee at UBC aims to promote global understanding and cooperation and increase understanding of international development issues on campus and in the community.

Part 4:

A WUSC scholarship offers a tremendous opportunity to significantly change the trajectory of the life of a refugee student. Your contribution to the WUSC-UBC Refugee Fund will have a direct impact on the recipient’s day-to-day life, making what can be an overwhelming transition a little smoother, and allowing them to more fully engage in the transformative opportunities of student life. Consider donating today!
Thank you to the Global Fund for Refugee Response Projects, part of UBC’s Global Lounge and International Student Development, for funding this project.
Thank you also to Jordan Levine with www.transliminalmedia.com for working with us on this video series.
