The Communications and Events Assistant will lend support to the Communications and Marketing team in the coordination of events for the School, its institutes, centres, programs and initiatives. The Communications and Events Assistant’s work will directly support SPPGA’s convening and engagement event activities such as the annual Policy Salon, the Phil Lind Initiative, the Future of Food dialogue series, the Policy@UBC series, the Splane Lecture in Social Policy, the Summer Institute for Future Legislators (IFL), and the refugee & migration symposium as well as other upcoming initiatives. The Communications and Events Assistant will also assist in developing and building brand awareness of the new School of Public Policy and Global Affairs and the ongoing development of the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA) program.
The position has the following variable job components with percentages shown as the projected average during a one-year cycle: coordinating and supporting the SPPGA’s events (50%); supporting communications initiatives, website and e-mail database (30%); supporting the communications & marketing team in event marketing, and marketing for the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program (20%).
