Atieh RAZAVI YEKTA has been actively involved in both research and teaching appointments within the Faculties of Arts and Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) for the past seven years. She plays a role in co-supervising capstone projects in the Master of Occupational Therapy program at UBC. Her affiliation and training within the UBC Designing for People research network significantly influence her research approach, as she collaborates with community partners to co-design projects that yield research outcomes centered on human experiences. Broadly, her research focuses on policy dynamics and occupational health and safety within the platform economy, also known as the gig economy.

Her current research, funded by WorkSafeBC, examines the everyday occupational experiences of immigrant platform workers in Metro Vancouver. Using focused ethnography informed by a socio-technical approach, she investigates how these workers perceive and navigate the influence of algorithmic management systems in the platform economy.

Atieh takes pride in being an alumna of the UBC MPPGA (Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs) program.
