Jawad Hussain Qureshi is a Senior South Asia analyst in the Intelligence Assessment Secretariat (IAS) of the Government of Canada’s Privy Council Office. The IAS provides the Privy Council Office (National Security & Intelligence Advisor, Foreign and Defense Policy Advisor to the PM) and other senior government clients (PMO) with original, policy-neutral assessments of foreign developments and trends that may affect Canadian interests. As the senior South Asia analyst since 2009, Mr. Hussain Qureshi is responsible for following developments across South Asia. He was previously working as a broadcast journalist in Pakistan. Prior to that he was the South Asia analyst for the International Crisis Group (ICG). Mr. Hussain Qureshi has also done deployments in Kandahar (Canadian military) and Dhaka (Canadian High Commission).

Jawad Hussain Qureshi has also worked on assignments with the U.S. State Department and Defence Intelligence Organization (Australia) and was until recently was the intelligence liaison officer with Germany, France and Spain for PCO. Until 2023, Mr. Hussain Qureshi was the longest serving co-chair of the Canadian Association of Professional Intelligence Analysts (CAPIA) overseeing the professional development, networking and social interactions of 35 federal government intelligence assessment units. He was co-Chair of the Employment Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee (EEDAC) Steering Committee at PCO.

Jawad Hussain Qureshi is a graduate of the MAPPS program from UBC (2005).  He will join SPPGA for an 8-month Practitioner Fellowship from October 2023 to May 2024.
