About

Oluwole Soyinka is a town planner with multidisciplinary experience in land use planning and resource management, social, economic and environmental justice for sustainable urban development. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a research focus on “Urban informality and infrastructure planning: The study of Hong Kong SAR and Lagos Metropolis for sustainable urban design strategies” from the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Science degree with distinction and a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honours in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Oluwole is a registered town planner with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) in the United Kingdom, and the Town Planning Registration Council (TOPREC) of Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planning (NITP), International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) with outstanding professional practice experience.

Motivated by the urban challenges he witnessed during his childhood experience in the urban informal area of Lagos State, Nigeria, his academic and professional career experience has been to contribute significantly to the transformation of urban development with practical social change for sustainable urban development. Based on this desire and the need to better understand these issues from public policy perspectives and proffer solutions with practical development and social change implications. Oluwole seeks to pursue the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA) program with his public policy interest in African urbanism, Asia Pacific Region (specifically Nigeria, Hong Kong and Canada) public policy and other global affairs to foster urban development and social change policy that ameliorate urban informality and homeless challenges among others. Through the MPPGA program, he desires to acquire multidisciplinary public policy knowledge on diverse areas of urban development and social change including digital transformation for urban development, social, economic and environmental justice public policy that promote development and social change.
